The St Loyes Hotel

THE ST LOYES HOTEL

This was a really challenging scheme.

We started with a derelict pub with a dreadful reputation, located in a Conservation Area and the building is a 1930's Art Deco premises deemed worthy of retention.

The brief was to preserve the building whilst maximising the development opportunity in order to gain an optimum return in the form of an urban, high quality housing scheme. The outcome was three, 3 bedroom houses, a block of four, 1 bedroom new built apartments and six further apartments in the Art Deco building.

Inevitably much negotiation and design input was required in conjunction with the Local Authority but the outcome is one that everyone involved can be proud of. Excellent new homes have been created, a worthwhile structure has been saved, the area has been uplifted by the scheme and the client has created a revenue stream from a liability.

This all started with ideas, design and commitment.
